PlayStation 4 5.01 Update Released Not Much In It

Earlier this month Sony released the long awaited 5.0 update for the PlayStation 4 console. This added new features and functionality to the console. This patch however, is a minor release but it does make some important improvements and fixes some bugs in the previous version.

However, Sony being Sony only bothered to release a one line sentence describing the version which is read as follow: “This system software update improves system performance.” very descriptive.

However a common point release patch following a major update commonly fixes bugs and potential performance issues that were missed during the major release’s development cycle. Especially since the live consoles provided a lot of useful data and user generated bug reports aid a lot in the development of these releases.

If your PlayStation 4 is set in Rest Mode the update should be done automatically if not you will need to install it manually the next time you load up the system.

Overall keep up the good work Sony, and next time provide some better documentation for your patch notes.
