If you are looking for the ability to play background music on your Xbox One you may be waiting for a while. This news comes after Phil Spencer the head of Xbox One development responded to a twitter fan stating that the feature would not be included until after the Windows 10 release. His official statement is below.
@Dragooon57 We have to land Win10 on XB1 before we'll get background music, so a little later.

The current way users can play background music is through the Xbox Music App the only downside to this is it will take up a portion of the gamer’s screen which can affect gaming performance. However, it is a good thing to see some sort of thoughts and an announcement by the Microsoft Team. As gamers, all we can do is sit and wait and hope that our ear buds don’t fall out during exo zombies.

We can still try to wear our earbuds inside our headphones to listen to music. u.u
