No Plans For World Of Warcraft 2 Says Blizzard

World Of Warcraft Legion

Blizzard has revealed that they have no plans for a sequel to World Of Warcraft. In an interview with IGN at Gamescom 2015, J. Allen Brack the executive producer of the game stated that he doesn’t believe MMO sequels don’t work and that they are more focused on the expansion after Legion.

Brack stated the following in his interview:

“You know, there’s not really a great model for a successful sequel MMO. Virtually all of them have been very significant failures and I think we’re very conscious of that – not just small failures, either.

“We’re not actively working on anything on the MMO front that is not World of Warcraft. We were completely dedicated to the Warlords of Draenor expansion and now the Legion expansion. We’re even thinking about the expansion after that – we’re already talking about what comes next.”

There has been plenty of rumors of a World Of Warcraft 2 that has been going around for years. It has come up even more so due to the subscriber drop. This is no surprise the game is old no matter how many times Blizzard tries to reskin the players or the textures they will still look dated. World Of Warcraft is 10 years old though and it’s hard even with stylised graphics to make the game stay up to date. Not to mention the game has other dated technology such as the combat system, and the game is increasingly top heavy which makes it very hard for new players to get into.
